Hwy reopens after big rig accident

All lanes of Highway 20 through Lake County have been reopened after an overturned big rig shut down the highway along the north shore of Clear Lake early Thursday morning.

No one was injured, but the 4:59 a.m. crash near Paradise Cove closed an important roadway through northern California, rerouting traffic around the lake for 3 1/2 hours.

The tractor-trailer rig was hauling lumber when it overturned between Lucerne and Glenhaven, dumping its load and leaving wreckage across the roadway, the CHP said.

Spilled diesel fuel also required state Fish and Game and other officials to address environmental clean-up issues, authorities said.

The CHP opened one lane of highway to controlled one-way traffic at 7:30 a.m. and reopened the entire highway at 8:30 a.m.
